Mindfulness Horse Camp, Ages 8-12

Mindfulness Horse Camp is a terrific opportunity to learn about mindfulness while working with horses. Join us for 4 days of horse education, emotional intelligence training, grounding and centering techniques and just plain fun! Campers will spend their day learning mindfulness techniques and apply them while working with horses. Working with horses allows for the pace of learning to slow down, is peaceful and allows time to think and process. This allows a person to learn what their body is feeling. Often children are unable to identify what they are feeling. This camp helps campers slow down and learn to identify their feelings, how their space and movement affects others all in the context of learning about horses in a non-riding capacity. We use a mindfulness-based experiential learning model that includes focus on grounding and centering, breathing, slowing down and connecting with the body and the mind, regulating emotions and responses, and recognizing how our behaviors, communications, actions impact our equine partners (and humans as well). The camp teaches self-awareness, self-management of emotions and behaviors, relationship building skills, responsible decision making and, social awareness by creating empathy, again, all in the presence and context of horses.
