Michelle Elquest

Equine Assisted Learning Facilitator

Based in Waddell, Arizona, Michelle is a lifelong equestrian. Her first horse arrived when she was 3 years old. "Gypsy" was a pony, who had zero interest in being a child's horse. Michelle's parents would saddle Gypsy and set Michelle on and let her ride. However, Gypsy would walk Michelle under a heavily leaved tree branch and just stand. No amount of leg movement or crying from a 3 year old could get that pony going. Luckily, Gypsy went off to a new home and after a bit was replaced with a patient Shetland Pony named "Lady."

Michelle's passion for horses continues today. She will share her love of horses with just about anyone willing to listen. Utilizing her years of riding experience and teaching lessons, she has been able to combine her passion for horses with her love to help others in their personal growth.

Michelle has had the privilege of studying with internationally recognized author, experiential psychotherapist, and transformational coach Leif Hallberg. Her work is inspired by his Embodied Awareness in Action™ model and is deeply rooted in empathic awareness—supporting clients in feeling seen, understood, and connected to their own inner wisdom. Michelle attended international training in Empathic Awareness in Sweden and continues her learning through ongoing mentorship with her teachers there, both online and in person. She also was EAGALA certified.

In addition, she is a mom of three, holds a Bachelors of Arts in Sociology from the University of Washington, worked for the Department of Veteran's Affairs for 12 years and has been a business owner with her husband for over 20 years.

Michelle brings her love of horses together with a deep passion for helping others to slow down and become more in touch with their feelings.

Working alongside horses and people creates a gentle, welcoming environment where individuals can feel safe to show up just as they are. You are warmly invited to experience the calming, grounding presence of horses and the space they offer for reflection, connection, and self-awareness.
